NOT about the city of Columbus. Unless of course you are a Columbus real estate blogger or a Columbus mortgage blogger...
Are you a real estate blogger? Or a mortgage blogger or ...
Or a wanna be (real estate industry) blogger?
or just blog curious?

Maybe just a warning to those who want to play games. I am tired of it.
This blog is about Columbus. Have something constructive to add to a conversation? A recommendation or even a negative comment about something in Columbus? Comment. However if your comment amounts to " _______ sucks" save time, don't leave it, it is not going to be published.
Comments trashing Columbus, me, the real estate industry are not going to be posted. There is a difference between constructive comments about Central Ohio and the "Columbus Sucks" kind of comments that a couple of childish individuals have got in the habit of leaving here. In the spirit of web 2.0 some comments have been published that seemed a bit "icky" Those comments have been removed because they seem to encourage others to pile on more childish nastiness. Discover Columbus is not a forum where your childish "Columbus sucks" kind of comment has a right to freedom of speech. This is my site and your comments are not going to be published, so move along... surely there is something else you could be reading.
Comments do bear the IP address so if you are leaving them from work, know that what you have written reflects on your company. Threatening or harassing comments from a company will be forwarded to the company. Sending threatening or harassing emails from a hotmail, gmail or Yahoo address is not safe either, read their policies.
It's not going to get posted anyway... all comments here are moderated. Discover Columbus is not a controversial blog... the hot, most controversial subject on Discover Columbus? Mexican Food. I deleted a number of comments from the post that seems to attract crazies. If you are strangely drawn to debating and feel the need to trash Columbus... Columbus people, Columbus neighborhoods, an individual person, my cat (yes... it was on ColumbusBestBlog.com sicko....) step away from the keyboard. It's not going to get published, so why waste your time.
Comment spam has always and will always be deleted from Discover Columbus as well.
I'd love to hear from you if you have a comment on the topic. All comments are moderated so you will not see your comment immediately. Thanks.

I used to use a long disclaimer on this blog... here's one from back in the dark ages...(February 2006 when this was Columbus Best Blog.) I cobbled the disclaimer together from disclaimers on MLS and various websites:
"The information provided herein is supplied by several sources and is subject to change without notice. Columbus Best Blog does not guarantee or is any way responsible for its accuracy, and provides said information without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Entries on Columbus Best Blog represent the opinions and ideas of the author(s). They do not necessarily reflect the views of HER Real Living. Copyright ? 2006 Maureen McCabe & Columbus Best Blog All Rights Reserved. "
I've kinda sorta done a disclaimer on ColumbusBestBlog.com on my Home page... I say my opinions about gyros and Indian food do not represent the opinions of Real Living or HER Real Living on "gyros or Indian food..." or anything . Or maybe I need a disclosure on each and every entry on that blog.
The Real Estate blogging world was in a tizzy yesterday over a real estate blogger being sued for 25 million dollars. Opera Tower, LLC & Tibor Hollo Sues Me for $25M from Lucas Lechuga a Miami Florida real estate agent blogger.
Blogger? Aspiring blogger? Does the prospect of being sued concern you? Here's a poll... even if you aren't a real estate blogger, do you ever think about libel when blogging? Here's a poll on ActiveRain Sue Who?
Maybe that's why Californians feel so comfortable commenting on Discover Columbus and I am paraphrasing here... "Hey Dumb Ass if you like Columbus Mexican restaurants you have no taste in Mexican food." Looking for a free legal opinion here... Is "Dumb Ass" defamatory in Ohio? On my other blog I've heard from east coast people that Columbus Ohio pizza sucks... but no "Dumb Ass" comments about pizza yet... I wonder whether "Dumb Ass" is legally defamatory in NY, MA, CT, NH, PA etc. Why is Mexican food so divisive? I have never been challenged on the Indian Restaurant posts here...
I'd love to hear from you if you have a comment on the topics of disclaimers, disclosures, defamation and just about anything thats starts with a d, except calling me a "Dumb Ass" I am tiring of that. Of course this blog is my opinion... All comments are moderated so you will not see your comment immediately. Thanks.

Excuse me this is more about me than it is about Columbus. It’s my social media plan for 2008... such as it is. What social networks are you on?
A very, very similar post yet not identical is on my other blog ColumbusBestBlog.com today. I am more openly catty about RealTown as a social network there... Bob Carney a real estate agent in Frederick M.D. started this thinking about "planning" .. on his BobsBraindump.com - Social Networking Tips and Business Plan Bob is only going to do six “social networks in 2008… I am afraid to count mine… visit Bob's post for tips on using social networks... I am not big on analysis of this sort of thing... as you will see.
MySpace.com … I joined. I have never added anything to the profile. I have a friend. I am not even going to show you that profile. I read somewhere if you like Facebook.com you won't like MySpace.com. It is either or. I think I tried Facebook more extensively than MySpace because of the MySpace.com reputation. I dislike Facebook (how's that for critical analysis) so I am not sure why I have not at least tried MySpace.com
I am on Twitter I actually like Twitter.. it took me a long time to appreciate Twitter. Sometimes there is too much chatter.
I am on ActiveRain.com, a “Real Estate Network.” I’ve contributed some to ActiveRain.com ’s Localism.com through ActiveRain.
I thought of another “Real Estate Network” I joined about the same time… as ActiveRain.com that seemed to be all ads. The spam seems to have stopped. I am not going to name it here…It is on my active ignore list.
I am on RealTown.com obviously with this blog. This is a RealTown.com blog. I have been on their social network really, reading their ListServ for the real estate industry, RealTalk which is now a RealTown community longer than any other social network. RealTown.com is made up of blogs, communities, articles and more. Personally I find the RealTown platform disjointed and difficult to manuveur. I stopped participating in the RealTown communities because of heavy handed censorship. Or maybe they stopped me from participating in RealTalk and BlogTalk. I appreciate that their censorship and editing has not ever crept onto Discover Columbus.
I have a second blog on WordPress.org … ColumbusBestBlog.com
Locally I have enjoyed attending a couple of meetings of the Columbus Social Media Cafe and joined their network on Ning.com That is just one of the six Ning Social Networks I belong too…but I have not been on most of them in weeks.. I started one to see what starting a social network would feel like. Another Ning.com network I joined but have not participated in as started by a local buider. I feel bad that it did not remain local and that it is overrun by a bunch of the same people who I know from other real estate social networks.
There’s also UPWorld, BlogHer, Trulia.com’s Voices, Real Estate Voices, Yelp.com and it seems like a zillion more… that I am ignoring. I don't like Digg.com I often feel spammed by “friends” on Digg.com but at least no one throws sheep.
